13 September 2011, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt- About 245,000 barrels per day of Nigeria’s Bonny Light crude oil will be shipped out of the country in October. This will cover exports for the month and cargoes delayed from September, according to the newswire, Reuters.
Shipments of Bonny Light are under force majeure because of an attack on a pipeline, which traders said reduced oil output by about 50,000 bpd.
The Bonny operator, Shell’s Nigerian venture, has not confirmed the impact on production.
As many as eight cargoes of Bonny are expected to be shipped in October, the trade source told Reuters, including four shipments that have been deferred from September.
Bonny cargoes are usually of 950,000 barrels. “Although cargoes are delayed, at the end of the day it’s still producing a reasonable volume,” the source said.
Exports of Bonny Light were originally scheduled to average about 216,000 bpd in October in eight cargoes. Two of these October cargoes have been cancelled and two delayed into November, the source said.
