Kunle Kalejaye 04 May 2017, Sweetcrude, Houston, Texas – The 3,000 mega watts gas-fired power plant to be built by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and its joint venture partners will be completed by 2019.
Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, said this in an interview at the formal opening of the Nigerian exhibition stand at the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, United States of America.
The 2019 deadline of 3000mw plant will be for the first batch.
Baru who was represented by the Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, COO), Gas and Power, Engr. Saidu Mohammed said the plant is to be built in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano.
Mohammed said that by the time the three plants are completed, NNPC will generate about 4, 000 MW of power, which will significantly boost power supply in the country.
