    AfDB gets Nigeria’s commitment on reliable gas supply for SAPZ

    Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has given a firm assurance to the African Development Bank, AfDB of a reliable and robust gas supply to the Special Agro-Processing Zones, SAPZ project.

    The SAPZ project, a flagship initiative of the African Development Bank, aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s agriculture and industrial sectors.

    In a meeting with an AfDB delegation led by by Prof. Oyeyinka Oyebanji, Ekpo reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a stable gas supply to the SAPZ initiative, aimed at promoting industrialization, economic growth, and food security.

    The Minister who gave the assurance on his official X handle, also reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to achieving a gas-powered economy by 2030.

    He said, “I hosted a delegation from the African Development Bank led by the Senior Special Adviser to the AFDB President on Industrialization, Prof. Oyeyinka Oyebanji where we deliberated on the Special Agro-Processing Zone project and support for Power in these zones using CNG.

    “At the meeting, I assured the bank of gas availability for power generation for the SAPZ projects which are to be sited across states of the country.

    “I am optimistic that with the support of AfDB and its partners in the Special Agro-Processing Zone project, the Federal Government’s aspiration of a Gas-Powered economy by 2030 will become easily achievable,” Ekpo tweeted.
