Port Harcourt — In a sweeping move to strengthen public service delivery, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the recruitment of 3,000 qualified professionals into the State’s mainstream civil service.
The appointments, spanning education, health, law, engineering, and other technical fields, mark one of the largest recruitment drives in the state’s recent history.
The exercise, designed to boost manpower across ministries, departments, and agencies, will be conducted exclusively via the Arise Youth Employment Portal: https://employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng
According to the state government, vacancies will be advertised on or before July 31, 2025.
“The various departments involved in the recruitment are finalising the documentation for the roles,” said Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, Honourable Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, in an official announcement released Monday.
“We expect the vacancies to be advertised on the ARISE Youth Employment Portal on or before the 31st of July 2025.”
Ekpenyong emphasized that the Governor’s directive reflects a deep commitment to merit-based, transparent employment that prioritizes skills, competence, and service delivery over political patronage.
“This administration is not just filling vacancies; it is building a responsive, 21st-century civil service,” he added.
The recruitment covers a wide range of professionals, including teachers, nurses, engineers, administrators, state counsels, agriculturists, accountants, scientists, and technicians, among others.
To ensure fairness, the government released a detailed five-step guide to help applicants navigate the process, from registration to final onboarding.
*Applicants must first complete their portal profile with relevant credentials before applying to a single vacancy that matches their qualifications.
“Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via the portal and invited to interviews, with QR-coded slips required for entry. Some roles may also require aptitude tests. Final onboarding instructions will be sent to successful candidates, and their portal status will update to “Employed.”
“Your email address on file must be active and accurate, this will be our sole channel for all communications,” the statement warned, underscoring the importance of vigilance throughout the application process.
The initiative is part of the Governor’s broader Arise Agenda, a vision focused on economic empowerment, institutional strengthening, and inclusive development.
“We wish all applicants the very best and thank you for your interest in serving the State,” the Commissioner concluded.
