27 August 2013, Lagos – Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, and Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Ita Bassey-Ewa, are among top experts that oil and gas industry experts that have indicated interest to attend the forthcoming 2nd International Conference on Petroleum Refining & Petrochemicals.
The event is being organised by the University of Port Harcourt, UniPort, in collaboration with Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, IEPL.
The event, which holds August 28 to 29 at Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, was endorsed by Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. The theme of the conference is ‘Creating wealth through diversification, transformation and development of our refineries and petrochemical industries’.
Ajumogobia has accepted to be a special guest and would deliver a goodwill message. Former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr. Thomas M. John is a keynote speaker. He will address the theme of the conference: “Creating Wealth through Diversification, Transformation, and Development of our Refineries and Petrochemical Industries”.
A statement issued by the Executive Conference Chairman, and Director of the Centre for Gas, Refining and Petrochemicals of UniPort, Prof. Godwin Igwe, said one of the lead paper presenters will be immediate past President of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Mr. John Erinne. He will tackle the area of ‘Realising Nigeria’s Petrochemicals Potential’.
Other speakers are the Executive Secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Dr. Oluwole Oluleye and other top experts are also attending the conference from US and South Africa.
Igwe had earlier stated that four other top personalities had earlier agreed to attend the conference and present papers. They include the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, Mr. Reginald Stanley; Group Coordinator of Corporate Planning & Strategy, CP&S and Director of NNPC Transformation, Dr. Tim Okon.
Others are the Director General/CEO, NOTAP, Federal Ministry of Science & Technology, Dr. Umar Buba Bindir; Managing Director of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, IEPL, Mr. Manish Mundra; and Chairman of the Governing Board of CGRP, Mr. Tony Ogbuigwe who is also the Group Executive Director of Refineries and Petrochemicals at NNPC. Igwe said that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joseph Ajienka is excited about this array of distinguished personalities who have indicated interest in the conference which he has promised would meet global standard.
