04 January 2014, Luanda – The Ministry of Environment, through strategic plan 2013/2017, intends to develop an environmental monitoring plan for oil, gas and petrochemical sector, reads the documents of the Office which reached Angop on Thursday.
According to the document, this plan is intended to better control the prospection activities and exploration of oil companies, regarding the eventual cases of oil spill that may occur.
“For the mentioned period, the Ministry of Environment wants to contribute for sustainability of oil production in Angola and other actions linked to the exploration of natural resources”, added the document.
In the ambit of oil spills, that occurred in 2013, thus roughly 20, the sector, throughout the National Committee of Contingency For Oil Spills, is aimed to promote the management, removal and elimination of oil wastes produced on the offshore and onshore with strict control.
Meanwhile, the minister of Environment, Fátima Jardim, said that in December 2013 the Angolan Government will provide more attention to the cases of oil spills, resulting from drilling and production operations from oil companies. (Angola Press)
