02 March 2014, Luanda – The northern Malanje province will be counting on a 19 megawatt thermal station as from August this year, as part of an effort to ensure public and home lighting in the region.
The information was released Friday in Malanje by the secretary of State for Energy, Joaquim Ventura.
The official told the press that the thermal station is being built within the electric sub-station of Kapopa, in Malanje city.
Joaquim Ventura who would not add details, explained that in addition to the thermal station, the Government will implement projects to boost the potential of the sub-stations and power networks for the farming areas, including the electrification of the rural areas and other localities of the province.
On Thursday, the secretary of State worked in Malanje, to learn about the technical conditions existing for the implementation of projects and the overall energetic situation in the region.
In the province, the secretary of State met with the Malanje province governor, Norberto dos Santos, with whom he discussed matters related to the rural electrification, and others related projects.
On the other hand, a 35 megawatt station is also being installed in Majanje province. It is the Biocom project in the municipality of Cacuso designed to supply electricity to the regions covering the provinces of Malanje, Cuanza Norte, Cuanza Sul, Bengo, Uíge and Luanda.
