07 March 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos —The palliative road repair work currently ongoing at the failed portion of the Apapa-Oshodi expressway has been stalled due to the perennial traffic situation on the road.
At the time of filing this report, parts of the road had been repaired and waiting for the three weeks compulsory waiting time to cure or dry.
While speaking on the development, Mr. Victor Enebeli, General Manager of Ibru Fisheries disclosed that besides the N10million contribution from each stakeholder operating within and around the area, the Ibru organization has also solicited the assistance of Banks in the vicinity.
Enebeli said that another stakeholders’ meeting will be hosted next week to determine the level of participation and to fashion out ways to quicken the ongoing palliative works.
He disclosed that work on the service lane had been undertaken, adding that the contractor has moved to the other side of the main carriageway.
“We have worked on the service lane and waiting for 21 days for the road to cure (dry) and while we are waiting for this, the contractor has moved to the other side of the road to continue the palliative work.
“The contractor has agreed to deliver in 90 days and work on the bad spots of the road started on the first day of February, so hopefully by the end of April, the road will be ready for use.
“Even Julius Berger has been invited to be part of the project just as we are soliciting assistance from banks operating in and around the area,” he said.
According to Enebeli, ten out of the Sixteen stakeholders that are expected to contribute to ongoing palliative works have paid.
He said that while Ibeto, Sahara Energy, African Terminals, Eterna Total, Gulf Treasures, Ascon, Leighton and Ibru Fisheries have all paid up their monies, Imad Oil and Gas, SPG, Capital Oil and Gas, Blue Marine and others were yet to meet their financial obligation to the project as at the time of filing this report.
