08 September 2015, News Wires – The worldwide rig count rose steadily last month driven by growth in both the international and North American markets, according to Baker Hughes.
The average US rig count rose by 17 units from 866 in July to 883 in August, although this was still a far cry from the 1904 in August last year.
In Canada the average grew 23 to 206 from July’s 183, although also well down on a year earlier of 399.
The international rig count was ahead 19 from July’s 1118 at 1137, some way off the 1339 in August 2014.
The international offshore rig count was fairly steady, rising just six units from 264 to 270 month-to-month, gaining on last August’s 315.
