24 July 2016, Abuja – Several flights were yesterday cancelled at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA) and air tickets rose by about 50 percent.
Our correspondent who visited the airport yesterday, observed several air travellers stranded as flights were either delayed or cancelled due to inability of the airlines to source aviation fuel or Jet A1 currently selling at N190 per litre. It previously sold for N115 per litre.
Checks at the counters revealed that the cheapest economy ticket, Azman Air, sold for N29,000. It previously sold same ticket for N16,500. Airlines like Medview and Dana sold for N35,000 and N33,000 as against N21,000 and N18,000 respectively.
