Kunle Kalejaye 05 May 2017, Sweetcrude, Houston Texas -Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson has described the state to Original Equipment Manufacturees, OEMs in the United State of America as Nigeria’s best kept secret when it comes to doing business in the oil and gas industry.
Dickson stated this at 2017 Nigeria Content Investment Forum, NCIF put together by Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Boord, NCDMB and Sweet Crude Reports in Houstonian Hotel, Houston Texas.
The governor who came with some key delegation of state dropped the hint as part of his administration efforts to attract foreign maunfscturers investors in the oil and gas industry to the state.
“We refer to Bayelsa as the capital of oil and gas in Nigeria because the story of oil and gas started in Bayelsa and we have the largest gas reserve in the country….Bayelsa is Nigeria’s best kept sceret. We are ready for business,” he said.
Reiterating the benefits of investing in the state, the governor said In the last five years of his administration, he has worked with all stakeholder following a clear headed policy of first instituting security and stability in communities and around the state.
“Even though historically, Bayelsa is the centre of gravity of all the issues and concerns of the Niger Delta, the great state of Bayelsa is one of the most peaceful, one of the most stable states and with all the investment we are making, Bayelsa is ready for business. And that is the story am here to share.
For OEMs and other foreign investors willing and ready to venture into new territories, Dickson said the state is creating an Eco-Industrial Park.
“Here is the deal, we are creating an Eco-Iindustrial Park and we want business men who want a foothold in the Niger-Delta in the capital of oil and gas to come and set up shops and I will give you land, give allocations to you with relevant documentation within one month of indicating interest with all necessary certification.
“This is the icing on the cake we have made lots of investment in power. The state is predominantly more gas than oil so we can product that Can power Nigeria and the entire Gulf of Guinea.
“We will supply power also. Power is the greatest impedment towards industrialisation in our country. Business bleed because of eratic power supply to be in business which inflate the cost across board. We want to stop that,” he said
He maintained that for those with great business ideals and who want to venture into the Niger Delta, precisely in Bayelsa Eco-Industrial Park, they don’t have to produce their own power as the state will supply 20megawatts of electricity to the park adding that the park will be ready within six months.
On Federal Government polices to revolutionalise the oil and industry in Nigeria, the governor said he is in full support of 7 BigWins.
