18 March 2015, Lagos – Ahead of the 2015 general elections, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial candidate for Brass-East senatorial district, Bayelsa State, has said that he will raise about $1 billion to provide uninterrupted electricity in his constituency and meet other needs of the masses.
Murray-Bruce added that he will get the right results by forming a coalition across party lines.
The 59 year-old showbiz icon turned politician, said: “I have always been concerned about the poverty of the mind, about women who are not protected, children who are raped, men who are paedophiles, a society where there is no order, we must bring order to our society.”
He said that if elected, he will make Nigeria go green as part of his plans to turn around the lives of millions of Nigerians and to achieve this, he was already pushing to raise $1 billion to power Nigeria.
“The privatised power sector has caused a 100 percent increase in the cost of power, but with sunlight which is free, it can give us the same amount or more of light as we are paying for from gas or hydro sources.
