23 August 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Chevron’s chief executive officer, John Watson will retire in September.
According to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, the corporation is preparing to announce his retirement as soon as possible.
Watson who has spent seven years as the CEO of the company will be replaced with the new Vice Chairman, Michael Wirth, 56, the report disclosed.
Wirth is the executive vice president of midstream and development.
“We cannot confirm the Journal’s reporting. As a practice, we do not comment on rumor or speculation,” a Chevron spokesperson told CNBC on Wednesday.
Chevron is also yet to confirm or deny the report.
