02 September 2013, Benin – Distribution of petroleum products to customers in Edo, Delta and neighbouring states was halted, weekend, by the national body of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, following alleged seizure of its local secretariat by a faction of Warri unit of the body.
This prevented the newly elected chairman, Mr. Benjamin Ifeta, and his executives from carrying out their duties.
It was gathered that the national body of the union took the decision to halt supplies of petroleum products to the affected states until peace was restored.
Meanwhile, NUPENG national headquarters in Abuja, which waded into the crisis, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Hashimu Argungu, asking the Police authorities to properly investigate alleged forgery, impersonation, threat to lives and abuse of police escort to intimidate and harass IMB/NUPENG members in Warri.
The petition which was signed by the national secretary of IMB/NUPENG, Mr. Chidi Nwosu, read: “ We write to bring to your notice the criminal activities of Henry Baro and Bright Edejewho who forged and impersonated our national secretariat and conducted an illegal election in a hotel where they forged our letter- heads and signature of the national officers”.
