after a rigorous three-phase contest comprising a championship round, a science project exhibition, and a grand finale..
In the Science Project Exhibition, Oginigba Comprehensive Secondary School got the first position, having produced electrical circuit power from renewables; followed by Bonny National Grammar School with innovation for biogas and energy from food wastes; while Community Secondary School, Kira-Tai, clinched the third position for producing a solar stove.
For the Senior Secondary Class 1, SS1, category, the contest concluded at the championship stage, with Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, Khana, securing first position. Niger Delta Science School, Rumuola and Government Secondary School, Abua, placed second and third respectively.

“The world is moving fast towards cleaner, greener energy. NLNG is proud to be leading this shift by exporting LNG, a cleaner fossil fuel, and supplying LPG to Nigerian homes. Through this quiz, we are not only investing in education but inspiring the scientists, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow.”
Horsfall added that the initiative has reached over 200 public schools since inception, creating platforms for young talents to thrive.
“Science is the heartbeat of progress. That’s why we support platforms like this, where young minds can discover their potential,” she said.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Education, Dr. Azibaolanari Uzoma-Nwogu, represented by Tam Job Inisefiekabo, described the quiz theme as timely and critical.
“As the global community confronts climate change, environmental degradation, and energy insecurity, engaging our students in discussions and solutions around renewable energy is a step in the right direction,” she stated.
