Lagos — The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has strengthened inter-agency collaboration in the South East as the Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command hosted the Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Commander Daniel Isei, during a courtesy visit.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 1 Chikezie Nwankwo, on behalf of Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Favour Bodunde, the visit took place at the Command headquarters in Enugu and formed part of ongoing efforts to reinforce synergy in tackling financial crimes and enhancing national security.

Declaring the engagement open, Comptroller Favour Bodunde, commended the EFCC for its longstanding collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service. “This visit is a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to a secure and orderly nation, she said.

Comptroller Bodunde underscored that Nigeria’s security ecosystem thrives on strong cooperation among agencies, noting that “while each institution has a distinct mandate, they ultimately serve a shared national purpose”.

She added that joint efforts contribute significantly to boosting operational efficiency and strengthening the country’s overall security framework.

Highlighting the Command’s contributions, she explained that the Nigeria Customs Service operates a dedicated Anti Money Laundering unit responsible for intercepting illicit financial flows and addressing critical financial crime risks. She reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to support all initiatives that promote security, compliance and accountability.

During the interactive session, the EFCC Zonal Director, Daniel Isei, expressed appreciation for the collaboration the EFCC continues to enjoy with the NCS. He stated that the visit served not only as a familiarization exercise, following his recent assumption of office in Enugu, but also as a platform to deepen inter-agency cooperation.

He noted that the EFCC places high priority on its partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service, particularly in intelligence sharing, anti corruption activities and the disruption of criminal financial networks.

“The Commission would continue to rely on Customs support to deliver on its mandate”

According to him, strong institutional cooperation remains indispensable to achieving national development and safeguarding the country’s peace and stability.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both agencies to enhance teamwork, strengthen operational synergy and pursue excellence in service delivery across the region.
