20 August 2013, Warri – Ejekimoni Community in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, IG, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, over brutalisation of their chairman, Mr. Samson Kekakpor by a surveillance supervisor with Seplat Oil Company based in the council.
The community in the petition, narrated that “when he approached the oil firm worker, simply called Mr. Asesoris as regards information on the contract for the protection of the pipeline which runs through the community, the said worker started beating, brutalising and assaulting him, which left him with bruises in one of his eyes. He was subsequently hospitalised for one week for injuries he sustained.”
The petition by Mr. Francis Ikoyo and Mr. Isaac Onokprayunu, Vice chairman and General Secretary respectively, and also copied the Commissioner of Police, Delta State; Sapele Divisional Police and Seplat Oil management, read “We which to inform you of how our chairman was brutalised by one Mr. Asesoris, a worker in Seplat oil company based in Sapele.
“The unprovoked assault of our chairman by One Mr. Asesoris, a Surveillance Supervisor with Seplat Oil, took place on August 5, 2013. The malicious battering of Mr. Kekakpor in the hands of Mr. Asesoris was because he asked him about the true position of the 0.6 km Ovhor-Lima serial flow line that had been shared between, Egbeku and Sapele.”
“We demand an immediate investigation of this brutal assault to forestall an imminent breakdown of our cordial relationship and we also demand for Mr. Asesoris sack immediately from your community.”
