28 February 2016, Abuja – The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yussuff Sulaimon Lasun, has lamented that expatriates continue to control key sectors of national economy such as the oil and gas, construction and information technology.
This, he said, portends a danger of under-development to the nation, particularly were there is a lack of knowledge or technology transfer to Nigerians.
Lasun, speaking when he revived a delegation of the Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association on a courtesy visit, said less than 10 percent of Nigerians control these sectors despite their competence.
Details of the visit were contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wole Oladimeji.
“Where are our trained engineers, technicians, medical doctors from the nation’s universities? They are not given opportunities, rather our people believe so much in foreigners who move our hard earned money to their countries”, he said.
