17 May 2016, Lagos- The lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the lower legislative chamber, Hon. Tajudeen Obasa has described the recent step by the Buhari administration to deregulate the oil sector as a clear vindication on the positive intentions of the Jonathan administration.
In a statement released by his media aide, Mr Opeyemi Ahmed, the lawmaker cheered the antagonists of the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012, who are now the protagonists in 2016 to do the needful in apologising to the immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and his team for the continuous rain of harsh criticism melted on them at their various “Occupy Nigeria Protest Ground” without a thought for the intentions of the government.
Consequently, the lawmaker urged the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to rise up in agitating for better welfare packages for the Nigerian Workers in order to cushion the effect of the current hike.
”In the past, increase in price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has always been proportional to the increase in minimum wage. As it stands, the price of PMS has been increased by 60percent. Automatically, the minimum wage should also be increased at a higher percentage” the statement reads.
