01 March 2016, Port Harcourt – The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, is to seal off illegal filling stations in Rivers State.
Zonal Operations Controller, Port Harcourt zone, Mrs Chioma Njoku disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt, saying it was part of the efforts to effectively monitor sale of petroleum products in the state.
“Our personnel will soon embark on an inspection of filling stations across the zone to ascertain those that are operating illegally without the authorisation of the Department of Petroleum Resources. Any filling station discovered to be operating without a license will be shut,” she said.
She said DPR was doing everything possible to ensure that all filling stations complied with the approved pump price of N86,50k.
“Our personnel are doing all they can to enforce the official selling price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, at N86.50, but some filling station attendants usually alert their colleagues at other filling stations, using their cell phones, who immediately stop selling at an exorbitant price and lock up their filling stations before the arrival of our personnel,” she said.
