17 October 2013, Cairo – Egypt’s Minister of Electricity Ahmed Imam says the ministry has allocated LE 2.2 billion for investing in a number of proposed projects in the power transforming field to be implemented during the current five-year plan (2012-2017).
The plan includes the establishment of 11 transformer stations of high voltage with capacities of 4,600 megavolt to be operated within 2014-2017 as well as the replacement and renovation of conductors on 220 kilovolt voltage with other thermal conductors.
The electricity sector continues to achieve its support to electricity transforming projects in order to develop the performance of the national power grid in order to meet present and future needs, Imam said.
