20 January 2014, Cairo – Egypt’s Electricity Minister Ahmed Imam has said the total investment plan carried out in FY 2012/2013 reached EGP 16.5 billion.
The total number of subscribers at the end of the fiscal year hit 29.7 million, increasing the generated energy by 5% compared to the previous year, Imam said during a general assembly meeting of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company on Saturday 18/01/2014.
The power sector is coordinating with the oil sector to provide fuel needed for running power stations, he said, adding that a feasibility study is underway to establish the first power station operating with coal.
