07 September 2015, News Wires – ExxonMobil is looking to sink a North Sea wildcat at the Prince prospect off Norway later this year after filing a drilling application with the authorities.
The US explorer intends to use semi-submersible West Alpha to drill the 25/8-19S well at the prospect in its wholly-owned and operated production licence 027, near its Balder and Ringhorne fields.
The probe will be drilled in a water depth of around 128 metres and has a targeted total depth of 2800 metres, with a targeted start-up date of 1 December and an estimated duration of 45 to 60 days.
Its primary objective lies in the Jurassic Statfjord sandstone formation, with a secondary Triassic target.
