Sam Ikeotuonye 06 January 2016, Sweetcrude, Abuja – Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has advocated that the 13 per cent derivation that goes to oil-producing communities in the country should also be extended to the solid minerals sector.
The minister, who revealed this in Abuja, said he would be initiating a parley with the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission, RMFAC, to make this happen.
“If the oil and gas sector can have it, there is no reason why the solid mineral sector should not have it,” the minister stated as he called for the support of all Nigerians towards the Federal Government’s efforts to turn the solid minerals sector around.
“One thing we can guarantee is that this administration will make choices that will ensure that Nigeria and her partners, domestic and foreign, create a profitable, safe and sustainable solid minerals growth story. Hold us to account and challenge us,” he added.
