09 July 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Continuous rainfall of the past week has caused some power equipment belonging to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, to shut-down, leading to power outages.
As you read this, some districts under the company, are currently experiencing power outages.
The company’s districts such as Lekki, Ikoyi, Ijora, Victoria Island, Festac Town, and others, have been reported to have either been experiencing shortages in power supply, or total outages.
Reacting to the crises on Sunday, the Company’s General Manager (Corporate Communications), Godwin Idemudia, told Sweetcrude Reports that the flood that resulted from the torrential rains over the weekend caused damage to some of its equipment in those areas.
Idemudia said that the flood has caused water seepage into some sensitive and vital equipment, resulting in the shutdown of some distribution substations as well as some 11/33KV injection substations.
Idemudia added that some low tension and high tension poles and lines were also felled by the flood.
According to him, the Company has deployed its technical experts who have since swung into action, to clear all the faults within the shortest possible time.
While expressing optimism that all faults would be fixed soon, Idemudia then appealed to all affected by the outage occasioned by the flood, to please bear with the company while the restoration process lasts.
