31 December 2018, Sweetcrude, Warri, Delta State — Host communities of Nigeria producing oil and gas, HOSCON has offered to assist in securing oil facilities in the Nige Delta, appealing that President Muhammadu Buhari should consider its security company in the proposed community pipeline policing programme.
National Director, Media long-neglected and Publicity of HOSTCON, Chief Monday Whiskey told newsmen at the end of a meeting of the body in Warri, Delta state that they also wanted President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the Ministry of Petroleum to release the levy for gas flare penalties to oil-bearing communities.
“The meeting resolved and appealed fervently to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that HOSCON security company is giving adequate recognition in the proposed community pipeline policing initiative, as HOSCON promised to use her goodwill and grassroots contact to ensure adequate and effective policing of the vast pipelines within our communities.
That the meeting resolved that President Muhammadu Buhari intention to ensure that 13% derivation fund is made available to the people of the oil/gas bearing constituents is one of the most outstanding decision that this government has taken as its affect the social economic and infrastructural transformation of the long-neglected and environmental improvised oil-bearing region of the country,” he said.
