08 August 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Data obtained from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR), verified and validated by the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria (NBS), has shown how Nigeria’s refineries relapsed in their producing capacities between 2012 and 2015.
According to the data collated by SweetcrudeReports, refined Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol, production from Nigeria’s refineries, dropped from over 1 million barrels per day in 2012, to below 300,000 bpd in 2013.
In 2012, Nigeria’s refineries produced a combined 1, 134, 534 bpd of PMS, while in 2013, it dropped a bit to 1, 237, 307 bpd.
In 2014, it slides further to 638, 604 bpd and in 2015, it went further downwards to 260, 787 bpd.
On the side of Automated Gas Oil (AGO) otherwise known as diesel, in 2012, the local refineries produced a total of 963, 078 barrels per day.
In 2013, it grew to 1, 019, 143 bpd, while in 2014, it dropped to 638, 604 bpd, before dropping to the lowest in 2015 with 200, 114 bpd.
The refineries did badly in the area of Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG).
In 2012, they produced a total of 85, 104 barrels per day, while in 2013, Nigeria refined lesser, 162, 043 bpd.
In 2014, the country’s refining capacity dropped lower, with 60, 576 bpd of LPG product.
And in 2015, it further crashed to 57, 437 bpd.
As per fuel oil, Nigeria’s refineries produced a combined 969, 689 bpd in 2012.
In 2013, it rose to 1, 345, 604 bpd, while in 2014, it dropped to 733, 315 bpd.
The figure for 2015 was the lowest produced, with 283, 632 bpd.
