Port Harcourt — The newly appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ibile Oil and Gas Ltd, Tayo Gbajumo, has moved to strengthen regulatory alignment and operational stability in the downstream energy space with a strategic visit to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.

Gbajumo and his management team paid a courtesy call on Engineer Ayo Lukman Cardoso, Regional Coordinator/Director, Southwest, NMDPRA, in what is seen as an early signal of the company’s compliance-focused agenda.

The meeting, held at the NMDPRA Southwest conference hall, formally introduced the new MD/CEO and reaffirmed Ibile Oil’s commitment to regulatory standards as it expands its footprint across Lagos and the broader Southwest region.

According to Gbajumo, the visit underscores Ibile’s determination to operate within established guidelines while building a resilient midstream and downstream value chain.

“We are committed to full regulatory compliance and constructive engagement with the Authority to ensure safe and efficient operations,” Gbajumo stated during the meeting.

“Sustainable growth in the downstream sector depends on strong collaboration between operators and regulators.”

Both parties exchanged views on prevailing industry challenges, including licensing processes, fee structures, and operational bottlenecks affecting operators in the region.

The discussions emphasized the importance of transparent licensing and predictable regulatory frameworks to enhance investor confidence and operational efficiency.

Officials at the NMDPRA reiterated the Authority’s mandate to ensure safety, fair competition, and adherence to national petroleum regulations across the midstream and downstream segments.

The meeting also explored collaborative mechanisms to support safe fuel distribution networks, infrastructure development, and compliance monitoring in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest commercial hub.

Early engagement with regulators is critical in the evolving petroleum landscape, particularly as Nigeria intensifies reforms aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and investment attractiveness in the downstream segment.

Both Ibile Oil and the NMDPRA agreed to maintain open communication channels to support sustainable energy development and operational stability in the Southwest corridor.
