16 January 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Ikeja Electric, IE, has flagged off its network expansion project for improved power delivery, tagged E-Pole (Electric Pole) tagging.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company’s communications manager, Mr. Felix Ofulue, said the project was a convenient method aimed at improving efficiency in the distribution of electricity and services to the company’s customers.
The network expansion project was unveiled by the company’s technical services department.
The E-Pole tagging will enable IE track work and maintenance on 11KV and 33KV high tension poles electronically with QR code stickers.
The project, which has since commenced, will be implemented across the six business units by the Geographical Information System, GIS, unit of IE in conjunction with HAFMANNI Company, a member of the Korean Electric Power Company, KEPCO.
The project, when completed, will improve overall service delivery to customers as it will speed up fault identification, which is often a challenge with the large number of poles in the network, Mr. Ofulue said.
This, in turn, will improve the overall turnaround time with respect to repairs and maintenance.
