Lagos — Iran on Wednesday, demanded to know U.S. oil production levels ahead of the OPEC meeting with Russia scheduled and hold tomorrow.
The meeting which was to hold on Monday was postponed after Saudi Arabia criticised Russia over its comments about the price collapse.
Iranian state television quoted Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh as saying he discussed the “method of decision-making” for the meeting Thursday with OPEC’s president, as well as his Kuwaiti and Russian counterparts.
“Other producers, including the U.S. and Canada, should participate in this topic and there should be an agreement about production base of each country that is a basis for production cut,” Zanganeh was quoted as saying.
Although U.S is not part of OPEC however, President Trump has waded in the fight between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The fight coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic has led to low demand and price crash which has also hurt American shale oil firms.
