25 August 2015, Sokoto – Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company(KEDC), Monday said it would distribute 100,000 pre-paid meters to customers in Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states annually.
The Managing Director of KEDC, Alhaji Garba Haruna, made the remark on Monday, at the induction ceremony for 3,000 newly recruited staff of the company held at the Sultan Maccido Institute for Quran and General Studies, Sokoto.
He said the pre-paid meters would be distributed free to 390,000 customers in the four states.
Haruna, who was represented by the Chief Engineer and Technical Officer of the company, Mr. Bello Musa, disclosed that the company would commence the distribution of the meters to electricity consumers by next month.
“KEDC takes the issue of metering very seriously. In our business plan, we have the plan to provide 100,000 meters annuallly and even have the capacity to provide more.
“From next month, we will commence the distribution of the meters. So, we are prepared in terms of metering and that is why we are taking time to ensure that we induct this new employees and train them,”he stated.
