25 October 2013, Kaduna – Workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Kaduna zonal office, have started receiving their severance package from the Federal Government.
A worker at Doka Business Unit, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed to our correspondent that he received his payment alert on Wednesday, “after the union had organized another prayer session in Kaduna”.
“I am overwhelmed by the situation. I have finally been paid my severance package after working with the company for over 30 years. It feels like it is a dream come true, God really heard our prayers and I pray no other government worker either state or federal will go through what PHCN staff experienced. With this package, I hope to set up a solid business so that I can take care of the needs of my family for anybody to help me,” he said.
Another staff at the Kawo Business Unit who simply gave her name as Maman Ummi, said she received an alert for over N6 million from her bank.
“I received an alert of over N6 million credited to my account as my severance pay that has been long overdue. I am very grateful to God. At least now I don’t have to be following government officials for my money,” she said.
