16 January 2014, Cairo -Kenya’s Kericho county government has signed a Sh17 billion solar power project with Bluetechs UK Group Ltd. Governor Paul Chepkwony and Bluetechs managing director V Mathi signed the MoU at Kericho Tea Hotel on Monday. The first phase of the project will start at Soin in March.
Chepkwony said the project will stop frequent power blackouts. He said residents will access cheap power. On completion, the three phased project will provide the county with 100 mega- watts solar power generation.
