27 July 2015, Abuja — THE Kogi State has assured the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) of its support as the marketers implement the refinery project in the region.
The State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the assurance when he received a delegation of IPMAN, which has been in the state to prepare for the building of the petroleum and petrochemical refinery.
Awoniyi described the decision to locate the refinery in the state as laudable and requiring the collaboration of all stakeholders.
He particularly promised security, technical and logistical support as well as waivers to land titles as may be expected from the state government in making the project a reality.
Awoniyi said the state was a lucrative destination choice to do business in Nigeria in view of its rich soil, friendly environment and strategic location.
He described the decision to site the $3billion investment in the state as a wise and noble business decision and praised IPMAN for keying into the transformation agenda as far as the petroleum supply is concerned.
He added Kogi was a natural location for the siting of the refinery, stating that the state, aside from being safe, was strategically located to feed nine adjoining states including the nation’s capital.
