*To Achieve 90 Percent Installed Capacity in 18 Months
29 January 2015, Sweetcrude, Abuja – The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, KRPC, is currently running at 60 percent installed capacity and would ramp up to 90 percent installed capacity in eighteen months after the conclusion of the ongoing phased rehabilitation programme of the plant.
The Managing Director of the KRPC, Engr. Seidu Aliyu Mohammed stated this in an interview after an inspection tour of the refinery in Kaduna.
Engr. Mohammed explained that the plant processes 60,000 barrels per day of crude oil adding that the phased rehabilitation strategy has also boosted the production of liquefied natural gas and other lubricants in the refinery.
The MD noted that the fluid cracking catalytic unit, crude distillation unit, vacuum distillation unit and the power plant have all been stabilized and are fully operational.
Engr. Mohammed stated that the pipeline supplying crude oil to KRPC has been fixed noting that the challenge of crude oil supply to the refinery has been put to rest.
The MD commended members of staff of the KRPC for rising up to the occasion of making the plant to operate optimally after the Original Refinery Builders (ORD) declined to maintain the plant.
He applauded the Federal Government and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for approving the phased rehabilitation programme of the refineries, stressing that the initiative has made the refineries to contribute its quota to the national economy.
