22 March 2015, Monrovia – The Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) T. Nelson Williams has disclosed that the storage capacity of LPRC has been increased to 2.9 million gallons.
He said the entity reached this new capacity with the completion of two tanks built by the Liberia Metal Construction Company (Green Coast).
Director Williams explained that this new capacity will enhance the loading of tanker trucks quicker and faster at the terminal for the distribution of petroleum products around the country.
The LPRC boss made the disclosure Tuesday when members of the Board of LPRC inspected the two completed storage tanks on the tank farm in the LPRC compound on Bushrod Island, a suburb of Monrovia.
He indicated that the improvement of LPRC facilities will also increase the revenue base of the corporation.
According to Williams, the construction of the tanks at this time was made possible through the support of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to ensure that Liberia has a modern terminal that would meet international standard.
Williams hoped that the LPRC tank facility, which consists of 15 modern storage tanks, is expected to be completed in September 2016, with the cost of construction estimated at over US$348,000.
However, Mr. Williams did not comment on the status of the contract with the Scottish group, Motherwell.
