22 December 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — Total Upstream Nigeria Limited, TUPNI, has successfully concluded the training of 11 engineers at Saipem yard, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, in fulfillment of the company’s commitment to human capacity development initiatives of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB.
The training programme which lasted for 24months according to Total was conducted as project-based training following the execution of the umbilicals, flowline and risers modules by Saipem Nigeria for Total’s Egina project.
The programme produced seven Installation Engineers, two Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineers as well as two Fabrication Engineers.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote commended Total for ensuring that the youths received qualitative training.
The Executive Secretary added that the company had become a veritable partner of the Board in the implementation of the Nigerian Content Act.
Wabote represented at the event by the Manager, Human Capacity Development, NCDMB, Engr. Maurice Kelly, charged the participants to make the Board proud by using the skills they have acquired to be good ambassadors of the project
He further commended the management of TUPNI and Saipem for their commitment towards the Board’s human capacity development Initiative.
“We congratulate you (the trainees) on the successful completion of your programme. We also commend the zeal you displayed during the training.
“We urge you to use the skills that you have acquired very well in your future endeavors,” the NCDMB boss charged the beneficiaries
For his part, the Nigerian Content Coordinator, Egina Project, TUPNI, Mr. Adedamola Adenubi, commended the Board’s dedication to human capacity development in the oil and gas industry.
Adenubi encouraged the participants to remain good ambassadors of the project.
