Port Harcourt — The Executive Director of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund, MDGIF, Mr. Oluwole Adama, has chaired a high-level strategic session with the top management of Indraprastha Gas Limited, IGL, as Nigeria steps up efforts to attract global capital and technical expertise into its gas value chain.

The engagement, facilitated by Osprey Investments Ltd, focused on forging a strategic partnership aimed at unlocking investment opportunities, strengthening technical capacity and accelerating gas infrastructure rollout across the country.

IGL is one of India’s largest city gas distribution companies, operating more than 1,000 Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, stations, serving about 2.3 million CNG vehicles and providing roughly 3.3 million Piped Natural Gas, PNG, domestic connections.

IGL’s extensive operational footprint and technical depth in CNG and PNG distribution could provide a scalable model for Nigeria’s domestic gas expansion.

Discussions during the meeting centred on collaboration across CNG deployment, PNG penetration and broader distribution network expansion.

Adama reaffirmed MDGIF’s commitment to bridging Nigeria’s gas infrastructure gap through alliances with world-class operators.

“Strategic partnerships of this nature are critical to driving industrial growth, expanding domestic gas utilisation and strengthening Nigeria’s energy security,” he said.

He stressed that MDGIF remains focused on aligning infrastructure development with the Federal Government’s gas expansion agenda, positioning gas as a transition fuel for economic diversification.
