14 January 2016, Lagos—The Federal Government has been urged not to approve the appointment of the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Seminatari as substantive chief executive officer of the commission.
The call was made by the Ilaje Community of Ondo State, under the aegis of Ilaje Parapo Forum, IPF, which argued that it is their turn to produce the Managing Director of the commission.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos, president of the group, Mr Foluso Ajimuda and its secretary, Mr Tayo Adewunmi noted that in spite of their contribution to oil production in Nigeria and the statutory provision as contained in the NDDC Act, the community has been neglected over the years.
Ajimuda, who said the Ilajes, comprising 213 communities in Ondo State are peace-loving people, noted that the community was ranked as the fifth oil producing community and has been deprived of its statutory rights.
