30 October 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, will meet with the power distribution companies or DisCos and meter manufacturers to discuss the technology requirements for the Meter Asset Providers, MAP, scheme.

The MAP scheme was introduced by NERC earlier in the year to ensure effective metering of power consumers to remove estimated billing and pave way for customers paying only for what they actually consumed.

The MAP regulation provides for the supply, installation and maintenance of end-user meters by other parties outside the DisCos, approved by NERC.

The technology requirements will be discussed in a one-day workshop to be organised by NERC where potential MAPs, DisCos and technology companies will share ideas, the commission said in a communique issued at the end of a recent meeting with the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry stakeholders in Abuja.

SweetcrudeReports could not ascertain when the meeting will hold as at the time of publication.
