*Presents 528MW floating power plant to MGIG
*Gov. Ayade wants DisCos monitored over inadequate services

13 December 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has called on state governors to demolish buildings under high tension wires.
Several tweets by NERC’s official handle, @NERCNG on Tuesday during the presentation of power generation for 528 megawatts floating power plant to MGIG Independent Power Generating Company Ltd. led by Gov. Benedict Ayade of Cross River, quoted its commissioner, Dafe Akpeneye saying the plea to state governors was geared towards the safety of the masses.
During the presentation, NERC’s Vice Chairman, Sanusi Garba commended Governor Ayade for providing the enabling environment for MGIG to invest in power generation in the state.

should assist in the areas of safety and removal of buildings under high tension wire, the NERC tweeted.
The Federal Ministry of Power Works and Housing, National Assembly and Prof. Yemi Osibanjo were copied in the tweets.
According to Garba, Cross River State is endowed with natural resources to play a central role in the power sector.
In his speech, governor Ayade commended NERC for its capacity and professionalism at processing the license considering that the last document in the application was submitted last year.
He also urged the Commission to properly monitor the Distribution Companies, DisCos over what he described as “inadequate service delivery”.
He enthused that power was central to the industrialisation policy of his administration; even as he promised to assist NERC to carry out its statutory functions.
