Lagos — The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been named the winner of the highly esteemed Golden World Award (GWA) by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), in recognition of its exceptional public relations campaign, “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service.”
The announcement precedes the official IPRA Golden World Awards ceremony, which is set to take place in Belgrade, Serbia, on October 18, 2024.
In a letter addressed to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, IPRA’s Secretary General, Philip Sheppard, formally congratulated the NCS for its outstanding achievement.
The NCS campaign secured victory in the Crisis Management category, highlighting the effectiveness of its strategic communication efforts.
The award-winning campaign, developed in partnership with Image Merchants Promotion Limited, was designed to manage and navigate the challenges faced by the Customs Service. Through targeted communication strategies and proactive public relations, the NCS was able to enhance its image, build public trust, and effectively manage crises during a pivotal period of reform and transition within the organization.
“I am delighted to inform you that your campaign entry, ‘100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service,’ has won the prestigious Golden World Award (GWA) in the Crisis Management category,” Sheppard stated in his letter. “This achievement reflects the high standards of excellence in public relations practice demonstrated by the Nigeria Customs Service.”
The IPRA Golden World Awards, established in 1990, is one of the most respected global recognitions in the field of public relations. It honors outstanding campaigns across 60 categories, including crisis management, digital communications, corporate responsibility, and more. Each year, an overall IPRA Grand Prize for Excellence is awarded to the campaign that exemplifies the highest standards of public relations.
As the recipient of this prestigious honor, the Nigeria Customs Service and its team have been invited to attend the award ceremony at the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade, Serbia. The event will celebrate the best in public relations practice globally and offer a platform for winners to share their innovative approaches to communication and crisis management.
This recognition places the NCS among a select group of organizations worldwide that have been acknowledged for their excellence in public relations.
