26 April 2016, Ibadan — Worried by the state of the national economy, the Council of Bishops of the Methodist Church Nigeria has tasked the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, “take census of all Nigeria’s oil wells with a view to ascertaining their rightful operations and also to ensure justice, equity, probity, and accountability.”

Rising from its 34th Council of Bishops Conference held in Ibadan and presided over by the Prelate, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Uche, the clerics demanded that individuals in Nigeria should no longer be allocated oil wells in line with the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.
