05 May 2016, Kaduna — The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) and NNPC Retail Management have been called upon to sustain their tireless effort in ensuring the availability and distribution of petroleum products across the country in order to bring the people’s sufferings to the barest minimum.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna on the state of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, an oil expert and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edi-Jen Nigeria Limited and its subsidiaries, Chief Benjamin Omale, said the suspension of loading activities in all depots was a direct fallout of unpaid funds owed to transporters by the oil markers who in turn are owed by the government.

He noted that deregulation of the oil sector and the review of Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) in favour of both the local marketers and foreign investors/partners is necessary because it will curb corruption in the sector, enhance competition, lead to reduction of pump price for petroleum products and ensure constant supply that will meet the people’s demands.
