25 December 2015, Jos — Petrol was sold at N325 per litre yesterday in Jos following frantic activities ahead of Christmas.
Daily Trust observed that petrol was sold at N250 per litre by Monday but the price rose Tuesday to N300 and N325 yesterday, leading to high cost of transport and food items.
Daily Trust observed long queues around Mobile and Conoil fuel stations in central Jos but fuel was not being dispensed at the time of filing this report.
Susan Jurbe who spoke to our correspondent on the high cost of fare yesterday, said, “Transport fare has doubled. We came from Dangi in Kanam local government area to Jos today and we paid N1100 for transport instead of N600. And then to enter Keke NAPEP from Terminus is now N100 instead of N50.”
Ibrahim Jimoh who sells fuel by the roadside told our correspondent that the price of fuel is likely to rise further by today. Jimoh said, “Most fuel stations prefer to hoard the fuel and then sell to us at higher price.”
