    Nigeria: Three States paid more for PMS in September

    Households in three States of Nigeria, Cross Rivers, Kaduna and Yobe on the average paid more for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS also known as petrol in the month of September 2016 according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistic.

    According to NBS, each household in Cross Rivers paid N155 per litre while each household in Kaduna and Yobe states paid N152 which is above the official cap price (N145) of PMS.

    On the lowest average, households in Osun, Abuja and Akwa Ibom States paid N143 per litre for PMS.

    NBS said the report presents average monthly prices actually reportedly paid by households for PMS across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

    The total average the 36 states and FCT paid for PMS for the month of September 2016 is N146.3 with a Year on Year figure puts at N53.8 and Month on Month –N0.6.

    NBS figures also revealed that the average Kerosene price per litre across the country dropped from N298 in August 2016 to N288 in September 2016.

    However, there was an increase of the average Kerosene price per gallon across the country from N1,059 in August to N1,164 in September.

    Households in Akwa Ibom, Anambra and Yobe States paid the highest average price for kerosene per gallon.

    According to NBS report, households in Akwa Ibom state paid an average of N1,254 for kerosene per gallon while households in Anambra state paid N1,282 and households in Yobe state paid N1,238.

    On the lowest average price for kerosene per gallon, households in Ekiti paid N1,084, Lagos paid N1,094, while Gombe and Kano states paid N1,100 from September 2015 to September 2016.
