22 May 2018, Sweetcrude, Warri — Nigeria’s Host Communities Producing oil and gas, HOSTCOM, has urged the Nigerian government to pay gas flare penalties to impacted communities in the Niger Delta.
National Chairman, Host communities of Nigeria Producing oil and gas, HOSTCOM, Mr Benjamin Style in his acceptance speech after his election also called on federal government to discontinue payment of thirteen percent derivation to state governments that have not constituted interventionist agencies to manage the fund for oil communities.
“The New Executive is calling on Federal Government to stop disbursement of 13% percent derivation to States that refused to create the intervention commission for Host Communities and also to state that fail to fund their commissions should be checked.
This energetic New Executive will partner with Federal Government and other Agencies to further development and policies that will benefit the region without bias. “
The body said it would work with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to ensure peace in oil bearing communities., adding that international oil companies should relocate their headquarters in the country to the Niger Delta region as directed by the federal government when Professor Yemi Osibanjo acted as President.
