Lagos — Energy stakeholders, regulators and operators are set to meet in Lagos to discuss strategies for cutting emissions in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry as the country pushes toward its 2060 net-zero target.
The conference, organised by Oriental News Nigeria, will hold on July 23, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja. The event, now in its fifth edition, will focus on energy transition policies and regulatory reforms shaping Nigeria’s extractive sector.
This year’s theme, “Carbon Capture: Accelerating Decarbonisation Initiatives in Nigeria’s Extractive Industry Through Broad Regulatory Reforms,” aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s climate framework, including the proposed National Decarbonisation Bill and the Climate Change Act 2021.
Energy expert and Sahara Group Managing Director, Kola Adesina, is expected to lead discussions on reforms and decarbonisation efforts across the energy value chain.
The conference will also examine financing challenges, investment opportunities, operational sustainability and climate change management within the industry.
Participants are expected to explore how operators can balance environmental commitments with profitability as pressure mounts globally to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining energy supply stability.
Emerging technologies such as carbon capture systems, digital solutions and hydrogen adoption are also expected to feature prominently during discussions.
