*Contribute over $640bn to Nigeria’s economy *Generates N740m for Customs in one year

12 December 2015, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Nigeria’s Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited, NLNG, has sought the support of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, to enable it operate a bonded warehouse as well as obtain a Customs’ agents’ licence.
NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Director, Mr. Babs Omotowa, disclosed this when the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Hameed Ibrahim-Ali, paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt.
He said the bonded warehouse and Customs’ agents’ licence would enable the company carry out its operations without hiccups.
Omotowa who commended the Customs boss for the visit also appealed to the NCS to reduce the delay in processing of Form M which, according to him, takes up to two months before it could be processed.
The NLNG boss revealed during the visit that his company has generated over N740 million to the Nigerian Customs Services in the last one year.
“We have generated the sum of N744,455,081 to the Nigeria Customs Services in import and export duties. We have also contributed over $640 billion to the Nigerian economy.
“We look forward to continue working as well as partnering with the Nigeria Customs Services; we assure you of our full support in anyway we can be of assistance to help improve the Service,” he said.
In response, the Comptroller-General commended the management of the NLNG for its value added services, saying the company was one of its customers with 100 percent compliance to rules.
