09 August 2015, Lagos – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has denounced reports in a section of the media attributing the deployment of the former Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division, Gbenga Komolafe, to allegations of fraud.
Komolafe was recently re-assigned as the group general manager, special duties.
The corporation said such reports are mischievous and unprofessional.
In a press statement signed by the head, NNPC public affairs division, Ohi Alegne, on Friday, August 7, 2015, the NNPC explained that Komolafe’s redeployment was part of ongoing re-organisation that commenced earlier in the week with the appointment of a new Group Managing Director and retirement of eight group executive directors, and has nothing to do with allegations of financial malfeasance.
The organisation urged the public to disregard such reports, and called on journalists to adhere to the ethics of their profession and avoid unnecessary speculation.
